IPL is a revolutionary, state of the art hair removal system. IPL stands for intense pulsed light, and it is a form of light therapy, used for hair removal. IPL works by emitting a wavelength into the skin, targeting pigment. It works in the same way black clothing absorbs heat on a hot day, versus white clothing which reflects it. 

The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. It quickly turns to heat which then kills the growth cells around the base of the hair shaft. Hair has to be living for it to work. What is meant by this is the hair has to be attached to the bulb of growing cells, Only 20 to 40% off hairs on the body are living at any one time, dead hair can stay on the body for upto 2 to 3 weeks.That's why you need to have up to 6-9 treatments of IPL hair removal to catch all the hair in their living cycle.

The ideal candidate for IPl hair removal will have light skin and dark hair althoough our IPL machine has a specific head that is able to treat most skin types including darker skin. A skin test will be given within your consultation at least 48 hours before your first treatment. The hair to be removed must be shaved 24-48 hour before your treatment so that the hair is visible to the IPL machine. You must stop all waxing and threading procedures 2 weeks before you start your IPL hair removal course and until its completed. Sun exposure is also forbidden as your skin will become highly sensitive.
